When things go wrong (Blog Marathon post 4)

Things not always go as per our expectations. Sometimes they take a turn for the better and sometimes the reverse happens. Life is so unpredictable and this is the beauty of it. Imagine how boring our lives would be if there were no challenges!

You can make plans but in one moment, all the plans go topsy-turvy and life just spirals out of control. And there is nothing you can do except to wait for the storm to subside and going with the flow. Such challenging times are the test of your faith. Surrender to the Divine knowing that He is always with you even when there is nobody else.

200$ for clean water…Together we can make a difference!

original

Have you had a kindness shown?
Pass it on;
‘Twas not given for thee alone,
Pass it on;
Let it travel down the years,
Let it wipe another’s tears,
‘Til in Heaven the deed appears –
Pass it on.
~Henry Burton, Pass It On

Every 20 seconds, a child dies from a water-related disease and diarrhoea remains the second leading cause of death of children under the age of five. Currently 800 million people (1 out of every 9) drink water that is likely to make them sick. And diseases from unsafe water and lack of basic sanitation kill more people every year than all forms of violence, including war.

The problem is enormous but we can make a difference.This is our world and our opportunity to change it.For only $25, Water.org can get someone safe water for life. Co-founded by Matt Damon, Water.org has been helping people get sustainable solutions for over twenty years. We can make a difference in the world, we can help change someone’s life.

One way you can help

You can donate $5.00, $10.00, $50.00, or any dollar amount you choose. I have selected $200 as the fundraising goal & I hope, we can achieve this with your help.

Donate generously! Donation doesn’t have to be huge…It’s the giving spirit that counts. Donate small or donate big!

Additionally, you can support this goal by sharing this post on social media. But the greatest gift you can give today is the needed funds to provide clean water to somebody who needs it. And somebody, somewhere whom you will never meet will thank you for it!

Wisdom bytes (Dalai Lama on compassion)

Editor’s Note : True personal enlightenment begins with knowledge. Anybody seeking the universal truth would do well to familiarize themselves with the wisdom by the ancient sages and the great thinkers of today .Wisdom bytes are for you to read, inspire and challenge, shed light, help keep perspective, energize, lead to thinking in a new way and enjoy some immediate gratification. Get inspired…inspire others…

Dalai Lama on compassion

  • “If we think only of ourselves, forget about other people, then our minds occupy very small area. Inside that small area, even tiny problem appears very big. But the moment you develop a sense of concern for others, you realize that, just like ourselves, they also want happiness; they also want satisfaction. When you have this sense of concern, your mind automatically widens. At this point, your own problems, even big problems, will not be so significant. The result? Big increase in peace of mind. So, if you think only of yourself, only your own happiness, the result is actually less happiness. You get more anxiety, more fear.”
  • “All major religious traditions carry basically the same message, that is love, compassion and forgiveness the important thing is they should be part of our daily lives.”
  • “Whether one believes in a religion or not, and whether one believes in rebirth or not, there isn’t anyone who doesn’t appreciate kindness and compassion.”
  • “Love and compassion are necessities, not luxuries. Without them, humanity cannot survive.”
  • “I believe compassion to be one of the few things we can practice that will bring immediate and long-term happiness to our lives. I’m not talking about the short-term gratification of pleasures like sex, drugs or gambling (though I’m not knocking them), but something that will bring true and lasting happiness. The kind that sticks.”
  • “Only the development of compassion and understanding for others can bring us the tranquility and happiness we all seek.”
  • “The purpose of all the major religious traditions is not to construct big temples on the outside, but to create temples of goodness and compassion inside, in our hearts.”
  • “You must not hate those who do wrong or harmful things; but with compassion, you must do what you can to stop them — for they are harming themselves, as well as those who suffer from their actions.”
  • “I have found that the greatest degree of inner tranquility comes from the development of love and compassion. The more we care for the happiness of others, the greater is our own sense of well-being. Cultivating a close, warmhearted feeling for others automatically puts the mind at ease. It is the ultimate source of success in life.”

Dalai Lama on happiness

  • “Happiness is not something ready made. It comes from your own actions.”
  • “If you want others to be happy, practice compassion. If you want to be happy, practice compassion.”
  • “I believe that the very purpose of our life is to seek happiness.”
  • “What unites all beings is their desire for happiness.”
  • “There are two kinds of happiness – the temporary pleasure derived primarily from material comfort alone and another more enduring comfort that results from the thorough transformation and development of the mind. We can see in our own lives that the latter form of happiness is superior because when our mental state is calm and happy, we can easily put up with minor pains and physical discomforts. On the other hand, when our mind is restless and upset, the most comfortable physical facilities do not make us happy.”
  • “Inner peace is the key: if you have inner peace, the external problems do not affect your deep sense of peace and tranquility…without this inner peace, no matter how comfortable your life is materially, you may still be worried, disturbed, or unhappy because of circumstances.”
